WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Paving the Road Towards a Better Future
We are Mata of Hope NZ a registered charitable organisation formed to support New
Zealand children of African Heritage. Co-founded by Agatha, Angela and Ngozi, Mata means Face in Te Reo Maori. We chose this name as we hope to be the face of Hope for African Families and children living in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
We identified a need when the we read that the record number of children in state care is more than 6000 in New Zealand. Of that some identified with African heritage. We wanted to do something as Mothers and also New Zealand Africans to support the children and families that are affected by offering culturally appropriate support and care.
In acknowledgment of te tiriti o waitangi, tangata whenua, and the principles of Participation, Protection and Partnership, We work in five key ways:
Partnering with agencies to deliver family support and services
Socialising and facilitating health awareness programmes
Advocating for families and individuals of African descent
Collaborating with agencies for best outcomes for children
Providing advice and culturally appropriate options for children and their families
OUR VALUES: Trust • Integrity • Diversity • Inclusion • Respect • Caring • Collaboration
Mata of Hope NZ (CC54729) is a New Zealand Charity and cover the whole of New Zealand.
We welcome all enquiries.
